Evaluation of heat treatment parameters’ effect on some physical and mechanical properties of poplar wood with multi-criteria decision making techniques

Effects of the heat treatment parameters were evaluated relative to some physical and mechanical properties poplar wood (Populus alba L.) with use two prominent multi criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques: Entropy The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). To meet this objective, test samples heat-treated at 120, 150, 180, 210 °C 2 4 h in a laboratory-scale oven. With increasing temperature duration, shrinkage swelling ratios improved. However, bending strength, modulus elasticity, compression strength generally decreased process duration. According analyses, thermal modification definitely improved up point. Bending was found be most important determinant success. other determinants identified as swelling, shrinkage, respectively. Also, best results obtained 120 h. In general, above 150 or is not recommended.
